Google collects 360° horizontal and 290° vertical panoramic street level views using special cameras and equipment mounted on cars. They capture and match images to a specific location using GPS devices.
Once the images are captured, they are 'sewn' together to create a 360° panorama.
As from spring 2010 the Google Street view is available in 95% of the UK.
Street view was initially on available in a small amount of towns and cities across the UK, but this has now been dramatically updated.
360-degree pictures are available on virtually every street from Penzance to Shetland.
Street View cars have been up and down the country with special cameras that take photographs as they drive down public streets. Once the photographs have been taken they go through computer processing to make them ready for use on Google Maps.
When enough data has been collected and processed for an area they add it to Google Maps. The maps are not in real time and there is a period of time from when the images are taken, to when the finally appear on Google maps.
Getting street view onto your website is simple if you have our property search already in your website. In Universal follow the steps below to get the street view on your properties.
